Railways’ pending electrification work deadline now March

PATNA: The Railway Board has directed the East Central Railway to complete all the pending railway electrification work by the end of March 2019 so that electric locomotive- hauled trains could be run on these routes.

According to sources, railway electrification work is going on in full swing on the Fatuha-Islampur, Sugauli-Raxaul, Koderma- Hazaribagh, Chopan-Chunar, Bettiah-Valmikinagar, Koderma-Rema, Hazaribagh-Sidwar and Ara-Sasaram routes.


The railways had earlier set November 10 this year as the deadline for completing Fatuha-Islampur route. The Sugauli- Raxaul electrification work deadline has also been extended from November 10 to March 2019, the sources said. The electrification on the Koderma-Hazaribagh route will now be completed by March 2019.


However, the railways has set November 30 this year as the deadline to complete the electrification work on Chopan-Chunar route, while the Bettiah-Valmikinagar and Koderma- Rema routes will now be electrified by December 15, 2018. The electrification work on the Hazaribagh-Sidwar route will be completed by March 2019, the sources said.


Besides, the electrification work on the Ara-Sasaram route, a stretch of about 97km, will be completed by December 2019 at a cost of Rs 91.29 crore.
