2,129 students of corporation schools to get free laptops
Nov 16, 2018, 00:06 ISTCoimbatore: As many as 2,129 students of corporation schools in the city will get free laptops under the state government’s free laptops for students scheme for the year 2017-2018.
On Thursday, a total of 551 students from corporation schools in R S Puram were given the laptops. Of this, 101 were from the R S Puram Corporation Higher Secondary School, 216 from the R S Puram Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School and 234 from the Corporation SRP Ammaniammal School, said a release from the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation.
Corporation commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan, deputy commissioner P Kanthimathi and corporation chief education officer in-charge R Ravi were present at the distribution events. Minister for municipal administration, rural development and implementation of special programmes SP Velumani attended the event held at the Corporation SRP Ammaniammal School.
Meanwhile, work to provide the laptops to 1,578 students in 13 corporation schools is underway.
