PATNA: Farmers having kisan credit cards (KCCs) would be able to avail bank loans for agricultural purposes at easy interest rate at camps to be organized in each of the 534 blocks in the state on November 16, state agriculture minister Prem Kumar said.
“Normally, the agriculture bank loans are given at 7% interest rate. But those who repay the loans at the instalment rate fixed within or before one year would get interest waver of 4%. If the farmers meet the condition, they would get agriculture loans at only 3% interest rate,” Kumar said.
He also said of the 4% interest waver, 3% would be done by the Centre and the remaining 1% by the state government. The agriculture minister also appealed to the farmers to avail of the opportunity.
He said the agriculture department officials from the state, district and blocks, along with officials from the banks and circle offices concerned, would also be present at the loan camps to be held at the block headquarters.
Kumar said the farmers who don’t have KCC could apply for it. The new applications for the KCC would be processed at the camps. If there would be any doubt with regard to any of the points in the applications, the officials concerned would be present to assist the farmers, the minister said.
He said the farmers would be able to take loans for crop, dairy, poultry, goat rearing and fishery activities through KCC. He also said no collateral security is required for loans up to Rs1 lakh.
