How a teenage girl, 16, quietly excused herself from dinner with friends after an allergic reaction - only to collapse at home and die days later

- The teenager suffered from anaphylaxis, but was managing it fairly comfortably
- Edyn's liver, kidneys and heart were given to donors to reflect her selfless nature
A family is in mourning after their teenage daughter died from an allergic reaction to a meal.
Edyn Rubena-Misilisi, 16, who managed anaphylaxis her whole life, only realised the dish contained traces of nuts when her body went into shock mode.
She quickly excused herself and headed home before injecting herself with Epipen, a device which administers adrenaline in a bid to combat severe allergic reactions.
Realising her reaction was worse than she initially thought, she then called an ambulance to her home in Auckland, New Zealand.

Minutes later, Bonita Rubena-Misilisi, Edyn's mum, discovered her daughter collapsed on her bed.
A medic performed CPR before Edyn was rushed to hospital and placed in an induced coma for five days.
On Saturday, doctors attempted to take her out of the coma to see if she could breathe on her own, but it was too late.
Edyn Rubena-Misilini passed away on Monday.
Manurewa High School principal Pete Jones described Edyn as an 'outstanding student.'
'She also fully involved herself in the life of our school and truly lived our values,' he told the New Zealand Herald.
'Edyn was always generous with her time and was always thinking of other people.'
Doctors asked Mrs Rubena-Misilisi and her husband Morris if they would consider donating their daughter's organs.

After deciding to give away Edyn's liver, kidneys and heart, Mrs Rubena-Misilisi said her daughter will be remembered as a selfless lover of life.
'It was such a difficult decision to make, but I guess in the end it gave us a sense of calm to know that Edyn would be saving someone else which is exactly the type of person she was,' she said.
'To know that she might go on living in someone else gave us peace.'
A Givealittle fundraising page has been established to help support the family.
