Prince Charles' daughters-in-law Meghan and Kate pulled out all the stops last night as they decked themselves in glittering diamonds for his birthday celebrations.
But they faced competition in the glamour stakes from other royal women of Europe, including Crown Princess Mary of Denmark who was on the gilded guests list for his 70th birthday bash at Buckingham Palace.
An image posted on the official Instagram account for the Danish royal palace gave fans a proper look at the royal's party outfit, after she opted for a stunning one shoulder gown in a midnight blue velvet.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway looked equally glamorous in a sparkling silver brocade floor length gown.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit attended the celebrations with her husband Crown Prince Haakon, 50, and his parents Harald V and Queen Sonja, both 81.
Crown Princess Mary, 46, attended last night's festivities with her husband Crown Prince Frederik who looked dapper in a tux.
The mother-of-four's velvet gown featured a belt that accentuated her trim waist, featuring a gold starburst detail.
She completed the look with a pair of elegant drop earrings and a simple gold bracelet.
Meanwhile, her Norwegian counterpart looked glowing in a long sleeved silver evening gown that shimmered as she walked.

The Norwegian Queen cut a striking figure in a vibrant purple gown with glittering detail on the top and a tiered ruffle skirt.
Last month, the family announced that the Crown Princess is suffering from the lung disease chronic pulmonary fibrosis.

Meghan was equally sparkling in 'borrowed' diamond drop earrings, recently seen at an official reception in Fiji during the royal tour, although Kensington Palace have not revealed the original source

She is thought to be in the early stages of the disease in which scar tissue forms in the lungs. The disease can cause serious breathing problems and there is no known cure.
The mother-of-three released her own statement following the diagnosis where she spoke of her determination to carry on as normal.
She said: 'Although such a diagnosis in times will limit my life, I'm glad that the disease has been discovered so early.
'My goal is still to work and participate in the official programme as much as possible.'
Mette-Marit is a particularly rare case as the disease normally occurs in people of the age 70-75 and is very rare for anyone under 50 to suffer from it.
