Ever since the declaration that Fallout 76 would take place in West Virginia, there has been a major rush in interest in the state. Numerous fan meet-ups have by now taken place there. Bethesda even had a booth at the annual Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant this year. Clearly seeing the rush and the potential for tourism; the West Virginia Tourism Board declared that they were formally collaborating with Bethesda last month. Following the declaration, the West Virginia governor even released a statement supporting the partnership.
At present, at least one of the results of that partnership has been disclosed. As the game has gone live world over, West Virginia Tourism has released a new web-page highlighting an interactive version of the Fallout 76 game map. Like previous Fallout games, Fallout 76 features many real-world locations re-imagined for the Fallout universe. At present, in an effort to endorse them for tourism, the map highlights all of these sites with details; “Fallout 76 locations found in real- world West Virginia,” says the web-page; “These locations inspired the forested, rolling mountain landscape for the game, and you can experience them all first-hand on your own escape to the mountain state.”
