Rajkot: A total of 5,068 bottles of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), worth Rs 18.94 lakh, were seized from a truck and the truck driver arrested from Wankaner boundary on Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway on Wednesday night.

The seizure and arrest were effected following a tip-off received by rapid response (RR) cell of Rajkot police that the truck carrying the liquor was coming from Pratapgadh in Uttar Pradesh to Rajkot.

“The truck driver, identified as Sunilkumar Yadav (32), said that one Rohit Thakur had loaded the liquor on to the truck which was meant to be delivered in Rajkot. Yadav was supposed to call Thakur after reaching Rajkot to take his further instructions for delivery. We are trying to find out the Rajkot-based bootleggers who had sought the supply,” said M P Vala, sub-inspector of RR Cell.
