Chhath Puja celebrated across India with much fervour

Thousands of devotees gather at rivers, lakes and sea beach to observe Chhath Puja. On the occasion, women donning thick vermillion layer on their head prayed to Sun God. Devotees gather gave their offerings to Sun God on the third of the four-day festival. Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic festival celebrated more specifically in states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. It is a festival in which the Sun is worshipped. During the four days, people express gratitude towards Sun God.
