Swiss tourism focused on ratcheting up tourist numbers from India

Switzerland Tourism is in fact positioning itself as a 365-day holiday destination, and according to a statement by an official, the country had seen 7.48 lakh Indian tourists in 2017. This number was higher than 24 percent from the previous year. The official further said that in 2018 hotel overnights increased by 10 percent from January to August in comparison to 2017.

 

Hence, with an ever-increasing number of Indian tourists looking to holiday in Switzerland, the tourism board of Switzerland is aiming for one million Indian visitors by 2020. India is currently the eighth largest market in Switzerland, from international tourist inflow point-of-view. This number is however less during autumn-winter months. May and June on the other hand sees 70 percent of the total Indian tourist inflow.

 

Paragliding, parasailing, skydiving, and skiing are major adventure sports that attract tourists here. The Alps host numerous tourists every year, with its mesmerising skiing resorts, and beautiful environs. Switzerland is big on adventure tourism, and it has been noted that Indian youngsters come here in search for experimental and adventure tourism.
