MADURAI
A public interest litigation petition filed before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday challenged Amaravathinagar Sainik School’s decision to advance the cut-off date for eligibility for admission.
The petitioner, R. Anitha of Karaikudi, claimed that the Sainik School had decided to advance the cut-off date for admission from July 1 to March 31. This change in date for admission eligibility would affect the students born between March 31 and July 2.
She said that her sons, who were preparing for the entrance test, were also affected by the notification and sought a direction to quash it.
Hearing the public interest litigation plea, a Division Bench of Justices K.K. Sasidharan and P.D. Audikesavalu directed notice to the school and adjourned the case.
