PU student travelling on bus footboard falls, dies on spot in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: An 18-year-old girl fell from the footboard of a BMTC bus and came under its front wheel near Nelamangala on Tuesday evening.
Sushmita N from Hullegowdanahalli died on the spot.
She was a II-year student of Sri Basaveshwara Women’s PU College in Nelamangala. Sushmita was returning home from college at 4.30pm when the accident occurred at Honnagayyanapalya village on Sondekoppa Road. As the bus was crowded, Sushmita and a few youngsters were standing on the footboard.
Bus driver Thimmaiah and conductor Pavana have been booked for negligence. “We’ve arrested them. Thimmaiah said he could not close the door as people were on the footboard,” police said.
