- White hit back, saying it was 'just crazy' to think the April incident was staged
Dana White has fired back at Waleed Aly after the pair clashed on air during an awkward interview over champion mixed martial artist Conor McGregor.
White, the UFC boss, was asked by Aly on The Project if an incident involving McGregor in New York in April was simply a publicity stunt.
McGregor attacked a bus full of fellow cage fighters with a dolly, allegedly injuring several people, with Aly pushing the stunt line given that cameras were already rolling for the violent episode.
'It's just crazy to me that anybody could believe that that's staged, you know what I mean,' White told foxsports.com.au.

On Tuesday night's The Project episode when Aly brought up the McGregor incident he had said to White: 'You love this stuff, it's great for promotions, right?'
But White told Fox Sports pulling a stunt like that would destroy the credibility of the UFC.
'If it ever came out that we did something like that, it destroys all the credibility of the sport. So for people to even think that, I just can't wrap my head around it - makes zero sense,' he said.
White said he was taken aback by the questions but said it happened all too often with mainstream media interviews.
'It happens when you talk to really uneducated people; people who are uneducated about sport,' he said.
White added the UFC is sanctioned by the Athletic Commission and if they 'knew you were doing something like that, that'd be the end of us'.

During The Project interview, White had also hit out at suggestions the incident was staged.
'Do you understand,' began Dana, 'he [Conor] got arrested?! He went to jail! He had to go before the New York attorney general...,' White said.
White's voice was raised as he said: 'They already took care of it. What I am going to do?'
As Aly began his next question, Dana interjected: 'He was suspended! He was suspended! He couldn't fight because he was in jail!'
Aly said he just wanted White to 'level with us' about the incident, adding that while the state has suspended McGregor, White had invited him to fight again.
'I'm levelling!,' White said. 'That's what I do - I put on fights.'
Earlier in the interview, Dana explained the cameras which captured the bus attack were there because they were in the middle of filming the show UFC Embedded, 'where we follow the fighters around'.
