Mumbai: It was a second consecutive day for Central Railway commuters as services were thrown into complete disarray for 35-40 minutes on Tuesday after a rail fracture was detected during peak hours between Kalyan and Shahad stations. Railway officials said the gangmen detected the fracture at 8.30 am and they began restoration immediately. Local train services were restored in an hour, but after causing a lot of distress to the commuters.
A senior railway official said, in order to ensure there should be no chaos on the platforms till the problem resolved, all trains were diverted to the slow track between Kalyan and Shahad stations. “Due to a rail fracture, there was a bunching of trains which was resolved soon and services were normalised,” added official.
Office-goers complained of being pulled up by their bosses for reaching late frequently and think they are giving the same excuse for reaching late. “Every day I have to visit the construction site by 10 am, but trains on Central line are invariably late. I end up reaching 20 minutes after my boss has reported to work. Boss now has asked me to leave one hour before the time I have been leaving,” said Asif Khan, working at Irani Architect, Colaba. Khan added, “At this rate I will get little time for myself and family. This is something companies or bosses do not realise.”
