BENGALURU: Bengaluru city and some places in south interior Karnataka may get showers for a couple of days from Thursday. The rainfall, expected to be light to moderate, is due to Cyclone Gaja, which is set to makelandfall in Tamil Nadu in a couple of days. The cyclone follows deep depression over Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal.
GS Srinivasa Reddy, director, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, said places in coastal Karnataka may also get rain. “Districts close to Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu border like Tumakuru, Kolar and Chikkaballapura are expected to receive rain. The cyclone effect is expected to stay for a couple of days. The intensity of rainfall depends on how the cyclone transforms in the next few days,” he added.
Reddy, however, said the storm won’t hit Karnataka directly. “There will only be a shadow effect,” he added.
