The final installment of Netflix's family dark comedy A Series of Unfortunate Events arrives Tuesday, Jan. 1, the streaming service announced Tuesday.

The Peabody-winning series based on Lemony Snicket's (aka Daniel Handler) novels will conclude with a third and final season premiering New Year's Day. The premiere date was announced in a video featuring the dastardly Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) and the series' "author," Lemony Snicket (Patrick Warburton) promising that "we're almost at the end," which Snicket thinks is fortunate and Olaf thinks is most unfortunate indeed.

In Season 3, the Baudelaire siblings will continue to battle Count Olaf while attempting to finally discover the truth about their parents' mysterious death, unravel the layers of the V.F.D. clandestine organization, and reveal the secrets of the coveted, missing sugar bowl. New guest stars will include Richard E. Grant and Max Greenfield.

A Series of Unfortunate Events Season 3 premieres Tuesday, Jan. 1 on Netflix.
