GURUGRAM: The foundation stone for Dwarka Expressway is unlikely to be laid on November 19 as announced by state cabinet minister Rao Narbir Singh, according to sources. This may again delay the already delayed project. Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar also said the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had not confirmed that Modi would lay the foundation stone for the Dwarka Expressway on November 19.

While the CM on Monday confirmed the inauguration of the Kundli-Manesar stretch of the KMP Expressway, he said the foundation laying ceremony of the Dwarka Expressway had not been confirmed yet.

The state government had earlier announced the launch of KMP on November 10, which was then rescheduled to November 19. “We have sent the proposal to the PMO. However, as of now we have not received any confirmation on this,” said Khattar.

He also said the state government had sent proposal for the inauguration of seven projects by the PM on November 19, of which three had been approved so far. The PM will inaugurate the 83-km stretch of the KMP e-way even as the work on the streetlights and drains would continue even after the opening of the expressway.

The PM will also launch the 3.2-km Metro stretch, a part of the Violet Line that connects Ballabgarh and Mujesar. The cost of the corridor is over Rs 560 crore, said officials. He will also inaugurate the skill university, which is coming up in Palwal.

The preparations for the PM’s visit are in full swing, according to officials.

Khattar is hopeful that most of the work would be finished in time for the visit. The chief minister announced the three inaugurations in Gurugram during a news conference on the sidelines of the CSR summit.

The CM also said the state government would launch a portal called Mera Gaon Mera Guarav, which would help those interested in making donations for development work in villages.

Asked about the trees being felled for the Sohna elevated highway, Khattar said, “Trees have been cut for development projects. The required permissions have been taken from the forest department. We plant more trees than those have been felled,” he said.
