NEW DELHI: A review of implementation of central schemes by National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has revealed that of the 44 districts with significant minority population in Uttar Pradesh, nearly 10 hade not sent any proposal till October this year to the ministry of minority affairs under the revamped Pradan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK).
After the review meet in Lucknow in the presence of senior state government functionaries, the NCM asked the district minority officers to prepare proposals and submit them to the state government for further action. NCM chairman Ghayorul Hasan Rizvi said as part of assessing the ground level implementation of central schemes, the Commission plans to go to others states like West Bengal and Assam too in the months ahead. The multi-sectoral development scheme was revamped as PMJVK by the Centre earlier this year to address the backwardness of minority communities.
The information shared at the Lucknow meet pointed out that the districts which had not sent any proposal till October under PMJVK included Gonda, Ambedkar Nagar, Hardoi, Sitapur, Farrukhabad, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Gautam Budh Nagar, Hapur and Sambhal.
