Air India Express (AIE) has started ticket booking for operations to and from the Kannur international airport to Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Doha.
In a video announcement posted on the Facebook page of the AIE, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K. Shyam Sunder said the AIE was starting its flights from Kannur airport to various international points from December 9 when the new airport here will be inaugurated. The AIE will be the first carrier to operate the inaugural flight from Kannur to Abu Dhabi. The tickets for the Kannur-Abu Dhabi route for journey on the inaugural day were sold out within hours after the sale opened on Tuesday.
The AIE announced the departure and arrival timings of its flights in the Kannur-Abu Dhabi, Kannur-Riyadh and Kannur-Doha routes. On the inaugural day, the Abu Dhabi-bound flight will depart at 10 a.m. and arrive at the destination at 12.30 p.m. local time. The Abu Dhabi-Kannur flight on that day will take off at 1.30 p.m. local time and reach here at 7 p.m. The days of operation in the routes and timings are also announced.
The AIE will operate Kannur-Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The departure and arrival timing is 9 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. local time. The Abu Dhabi-Kannur flight will also operate on the same days a week. The flight will depart from Abu Dhabi at 12.30 p.m. local time and reach here at 6 p.m.
The Kannur-Riyadh service will be on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. The flight departing from here at 9.05 a.m. will arrive Riyadh at 11.30 p.m. local time. The Riyadh-Kannur flights will operate on Monday, Friday and Saturday, departure and arrival timing being 12.35 p.m. local time and 8 a.m. respectively.
The AIE will operate Kannur-Doha services on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Departure is at 8.20 p.m. and arrival at 10 p.m. local time. The Doha-Kannur operations will be on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, departure and arrival timing being 11 p.m. local time and 5.45 a.m.
The CEO’s announcement said that it was a pleasure to add Kannur to the AIE’s network. “I hope this service will be most popular and will lead to greater prosperity in the Air India Express which has been turning in profits for the past three years,” he said.
