MLC Ivan D'Souza releases book on his achievements

Mangaluru: On completing four years as an MLC, Congress leader Ivan D’Souza released a book on his achievements on Tuesday.

The book ‘Eeji Jayisuva Chala’ (Sailing with resilience) was released by St Aloysius College registrar A M Narahari, who authored it. Narahari said Ivan was a proactive leader rather than being a politician. “I have made attempt to portray the good works he has done as a people’s representative. Society respects the politics of emotions rather than development. Ivan is a successful political who understands the emotions of people and the development of the region,” Narahari said.

Sajipamooda Government PU College lecturer Vasudeva Belle, in his introductory remarks on the book, said it requires willpower for a leader to be successful politican. “Only those who have the tactics are capable of becoming a successful politican. Being a MLC, Ivan D’Souza has utilized the opportunities for good causes. He has created his own mark in the Legislature by attending all sessions and asking questions related to people’s problems,” he said.

Ivan said several questions he asked in the Legislature has led to the implementation of many government schemes. “I had the privilege to become the chief whip of the government in the Legislative Council within two years. I could bring funds to the tune of Rs 6 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and it has been distributed among right beneficiaries. I have plans to take several initiatives in the remaining two years of my tenure as a MLC,” he added.
