Children of various schools to take part in candle rally on concluding day

The Forum for Child Rights (FCR), in association with various NGOs and various government departments will organise Child Rights Week from November 14 to 20, to coincide with the Children’s Day, said FCR vice-president Bala Showry. Releasing the schedule of the week-long celebrations at a press conference here on Monday, Fr. Showry said the convention begins with the launch of ‘prachara radham’ on child rights on November 14.

Awareness programmes against child labour, child marriages and Right to Education (RTE) 2009 Act, will be conducted for employees of various government and non-governmental organisations.

Special drives on residential colonies, factories, hotels, mechanic sheds, shops and establishments will be part of the programme, said Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Krishna district chairperson B.V.S. Kumar.

Children of various schools and Child Care Institutions (CCIs) will take out candle rally and participate in the signature campaign during the concluding day programme, said Childline coordinator A. Ramesh.

“Students will paste wall posters and erect banners at the public places and at government offices against child labour, child abuse, child marriages and on implementation of Right to Education Act”, Mr. Ramesh said.

FCR treasurer B.V. Koteswara Rao, Juvenile Justice Board member J. Jaya Raju, SKCV administrative officer Prabhakar, representatives of Care and Share, Mother’s Vision, BIRDS and other organisations participated.
