PANCHKULA: After failing to catch miscreants, involved in various car thefts and snatchings, during their raids in different parts of Punjab, a team of CIA, Panchkula, has started looking at possible hideouts. Sources said that the cops had received information about some possible hideouts and they would now leave no stone unturned to nab the persons involved. The sources, however, did not share the location of the hideouts.
"We have got some leads but cannot share the location. We assure you of nabbing the accused soon," said inspector crime investigation agency (CIA-1) Aman Kumar.
On Saturday, a CIA team conducted raids at Moga, Ludhiana and Jalandhar, however, failed to yield any results.
"We are suspecting involvement of Seera gang, which is headed by Jagsir Singh alias Seera, a resident of Jalandhar. The accused has been involved in a carjacking in Sector 20," the investigation officer said.
A TOI journalist, Damini Goel, got carjacked at a gunpoint near the roundabout of Sector 11 and 15 when she was driving home from work on Thursday night.
She told cops that a white Tata Indigo with headlights switched-off rammed her white Hyundai i20 car (HP-63A-2919) from behind. When she came out of the car to check damages, three men emerged from a car - two of whom pointed guns at her. Before she could react and understand anything, the miscreants snatched her car keys, pushed her on the road and fled with her car that also had her carry bag in it. Her bag had vital documents, credit cards and cash.
Robbed, alone, and shaken, she mustered courage to ring up her office, which informed the cops who came over and recorded her statement in preparation for the registration of a first-information report. There was no other car on that road at that time.
