Mumbai: A 35-year-old woman passenger was killed in an accident at Deonar on Friday night as the over-speeding auto rickshaw she was travelling in rammed into a divider. Due to the collision, the vehicle overturned. The deceased was identified as Sheena Yusuf Mirza (35). The driver of the rickshaw, Jameer Hussain Sayyed (20), lost his control over the steering due to overspeed and rammed the vehicle into a divider near Lakdawala building in Govandi.
According to the police, due to the collision Sheena was thrown off on the road and sustained severe head injuries. She was rushed to Shatabdi Hospital at Govandi where she was declared dead on arrival. Shobaaz Yusuf Mirza (19), son of the deceased, filed a complaint with the police. Satish Chirme, police sub-inspector and the investigating officer in this case said, “A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against the accused Jameer Hussain Sayyed on Saturday. He has been arrested.”
Sayyed has been booked and arrested for causing death due to negligence (Section 304 (A), rash driving or riding on a public way (Section 279) of the Indian Penal Code and driving dangerously (Section 184) of the Motor Vehicle Act. The deceased Sheena is a resident of plot number 26 at 90 feet road, Shivaji Nagar slum, Govandi.
