1.30 lakh students pursuing education staying at SC, ST hostels, says Kavitha

Caretaker Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari has said that Telangana State was possible due to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who had enshrined the provision for smaller States in the Rule Book, during the making of the Indian Constitution.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was committed to the uplift of Scheduled Castes and hence he made efforts to establish 125 residential educational institutions and set up 30 degree colleges for SC students, he said.

At an election meeting held to campaign for Mission Bhagiratha’s vice-chairman Vemula Prashanth Reddy in Balkonda constituency on Sunday, Mr. Srihari said that welfare schemes were being implemented with ₹42,000 crore and TRS government introduced so many schemes for the poverty alleviation and welfare.

Stating that it was KCR who suggested a separate manifesto for SC and STs, he said that government was sanctioning ₹5 lakh to those who came forward to build house in their own land.

Member of Parliament K. Kavitha said that about 1.30 lakh students were pursuing education while staying at SC, ST hostels. The TRS government built more hostels than what were built during 60 years of Congress and TDP rule, she said, adding that the government was providing quality and free healthcare to the poor.

“TRS has always been with people,” she said and appealed to people to vote for Prashanth Reddy.
