Thugs of Hindostan box office collection day 4: Aamir Khan starrer’s numbers are declining.

After opening at a whopping Rs 50.75 crore, Thugs of Hindostan has seen a sharp decline in its collections thanks to poor critical reception and lack of good word-of-mouth. In three days of its theatrical run, this Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan starrer has earned Rs 105 crore. It is expected to pick up on Sunday, but it may still fold soon since the initial euphoria did not take long to die down.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted the figures on his Twitter handle. He said, “The DOWNFALL continues… #ThugsOfHindostan gets weaker with each passing day… With biz declining further on Day 3 [Sat], the writing is clear on the wall… Will find it tough to sustain from Day 5 [Mon] onwards… #TOH.”

In another tweet, he wrote, “#ThugsOfHindostan HINDI: Thu 50.75 cr, Fri 28.25 cr, Sat 22.75 cr. Total: ₹ 101.75 cr TAMIL + TELUGU: Thu 1.50 cr, Fri 1 cr, Sat 75 lakhs. Total: ₹ 3.25 cr Total: ₹ 105 cr [5000 screens]
India biz. #TOH.”

These figures may have been fantastic for nearly every other film, but for Thugs of Hindostan makers, they are worrying. All the troubles this film is facing may be attributed to its poor reviews. The Indian Express film critic Shubhra Gupta, in her review, wrote, “The only one having a blast is Aamir Khan’s Awadhi thug in his carroty curls and soorma-ringed eyes. He vamps it up madly, grinning widely: the act’s not new but some of it is infectious, and bearable. Just about. The rest of it is a non-stop combo of eye-roll-and-eye-glaze.”
