HYDERABAD: Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) on Sunday admitted he was not able to give time to his own constituency - Gajwel. Addressing 20,000 party men from across the constituency at his farmhouse at Erravelli, he said, "I will allocate more time for Gajwel in my next term."
Ahead of launching his own campaign in the constituency, he told party workers he had the responsibility of running the entire state which left him no time for his own constituency.
KCR will file his nomination papers for Gajwel on Nov 14 after which he will launch a statewide campaign. He has asked party men not to accompany him in large numbers when he files his nomination . He said he would take only 10 people with him. At the end of his campaign, a massive public meeting will be held in Gajwel, he added.
With many of his candidates already facing heat from voters for not keeping their election promises of four years ago, he urged them to change their style of campaigning. During the 2-hour meeting in Hyderabad, he asked them to give voters a patient hearing and not ignore their complaints."When I was MLA of Siddipet, I would spend a lot of time in the constituency, but as legislator of Gajwel I could not, though I started many development projects here," KCR said. Emphasising on importance of Gajwel, he said he came up with 70% of his government schemes while brainstorming at the farmhouse in the constituency. For eg, the Kanti Velugu programme of universal eye check-up was conceived here, he said.
Once re-elected, KCR said, he plans to cover the state with underground drainage and Gajwel would be the first. "I have no doubt about my victory from Gajwel," he said, urging party men to question the opposition if they criticise development. "Everyone in Gajwel will have a house."
