A MAN allegedly stabbed his neighbour to death in Bhiwandi over a property dispute Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Aavesh Said Ahmed Ansari (32), was riding his motorcycle with his wife riding pillion when two men attacked him, police said.

“Ansari and his wife were on their way home on Sunday afternoon when an auto-rickshaw started following them. Ansari picked up speed, but near the Amjadiya Masjid, the auto rammed into his bike,” said an officer from Bhiwandi police.

“By the time, Ansari and his wife could understand what was happening, the accused stabbed Ansari multiple times on his torso and neck. The bystanders near the masjid called the ‘100’ helpline. We rushed Ansari to a hospital, where he was declared dead,” the officer said. One of the accused has been identified as Afroz Ansari (35), police said. “He is the deceased’s neighbour. They have a dispute regarding their house in Shanti Nagar area. The wife of the deceased has identified him,” the officer added.

While no arrests have been made, a case of murder has been registered against Afroz Ansari and his two accomplices, including the auto driver. “There were many eyewitnesses to the incident, thus we will identify all the accused. We are trying to trace the auto driver. Afroz is absconding,” the officer said.
