Bihar: Criminal carrying Rs 25,000 reward arrested in Naugachhia

PATNA: A team of Special Task Force (STF) arrested notorious criminal Anil Yadav (38), carrying reward of 25,000 on his head, from a rented accommodation in Naugachhia town of Bhagalpur district after midnight on Sunday.
Naugachhia SP Nidhi Rani told TOI over phone that Anil was right hand of another notorious criminal Prabhash Yadav who was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 declared by the state police headquarters and arrested from Bihpur in Naugachhia on August 5 this year.
She said that Anil, active in crime world for last several years, was arrested for the first time on Sunday.
She said that he had taken a room on rent in the town area for treatment of several ailments from which he was suffering and got nabbed due to it by STF team. The SP said that hardly four days had passed that he had started living at his rented accommodation.
“While Prabhash was accused in 11 criminal cases, Anil was accused in four murder cases which took place under Bihpur police station area in last four years,” she said.
The SP said Anil also worked as a contract killer, he killed a lawyer in Bihpur in 2016.
Rani said that Anil dwelled in diara area of Naugachhia and was mainly involved in extorting money from farmers during sowing and reaping of crops in the riverine belt.
“He also extorted money from fishermen and owners of boat plying in the area. After arrest of Prabhas, it was Anil who was running the gang for him outside jail,” the SP said adding none of the villagers complained against him out of fear.
