They’ve been at sea for three weeks on the trot, but their enthusiasm seems intact.
The sailing expedition of the Army around the Indian Peninsula commenced its journey on the west coast from the Vizhinjam harbour on Sunday.
The expedition aboard the Bavaria-class 44-feet-long sailing vessel had commenced from Haldia in West Bengal on October 21.
They reached Vizhinjam on Saturday evening.
Spirit of adventure
The expedition, organised under the aegis of the Army Adventure Wing and facilitated by the Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Sailing Association, is intended to commemorate the platinum jubilee of the Indian Army Corps of EME.
It is led by Major Alok Kumar Yadav.
“The mission is aimed at fostering the spirit of adventure and also to create awareness among the masses on the need to preserve oceans from pollution,” Major Yadav says.
The team comprises over 50 Army personnel, including 25 officers and five women officers.
