Schoolgirl dies after coming under car

Representative imageUDUPI: A five-year-old girl was killed after she came under a parked passenger vehicle, which moved accidentally, in Sarkari Gudde in Katapadi.
The incident took place around 2pm on Saturday, when the victim along with other children, was returning home after school. According to police, victim Afiya Banu, 5, a resident of Sarkari Gudde, who was an LKG student at Shankarapura, was standing in front of her school vehicle, when a small boy who was playing inside the vehicle shifted the gear, which caused the vehicle to move, and run over the girl. The driver had gone to a shop to buy something. The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but died a few hours later, as she failed to respond to treatment.
A case has been registered against the vehicle owner for negligence at the Kaup police station.
