JAIPUR : Continuing its campaign against illegal supply of liquor, the Churu police during its intense patrolling have busted a factory involved in manufacturing of spurious liquor. The liquor was packaged in a manner to give it the shape of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). With the addition of spirit the people involved with factory were into making spurious country-made liquor as well.

Ahead of elections the police under Bikaner range has been coming tough against the illegal supply, especially the smuggling of liquor from Haryana to Gujarat via Rajasthan. “We have raided a place near Bhaleri in which people were using spirit to make liquor. We have also seized a large amount of spirit, cases, cardboards, liquor bottles and machines used in packing of the liquor,” said Rammurthy Joshi, superintendent of police, Churu, while talking to TOI.

On the seizure, he said, “We have seized 100 litres of spirit, 172 quarters of spurious liquor, 48 spurious IMFL. In the same raid we have also seized one machine used in packing, 2,800 quarter bottles, wrappers, 2,200 bottle caps and other liquids used in the making,” he added. However, by the time police raided the spot, people involved in this managed to flee from the scene.

“It appears that after the continuous raids of liquor from Haryana via Churu, the local people involved in the crime have set up these factories. Similar raids are likely in coming days,” said a senior officer of Churu. On Monday, early this week the Churu police seized a truck carrying IMFL worth nearly Rs 36 lakh from Ratangarh.
