Pitso defends Mamelodi Sundowns in Loftus scuffle

2018-11-12 12:39

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane says Orlando Pirates parked their bus in the home side's spot, leading to a scuffle before kick-off.

As it happened: Mamelodi Sundowns 0-0 Orlando Pirates

Mosimane also defended their actions during a heated scuffle in a 0-0 draw at Loftus Versfelf Stadium, that saw a Masandawana fan enter the Buccaneers technical area and physically confront assistant coach Rulani Mokwena.

"I found Pirates' bus parked where I park," Mosimane told journalists in a post-match press conference.

"They park at my stadium, in my home. I found them in my space. I parked outside. Is that a commotion? I walked from outside to inside the stadium. Their bus was there. We must not twist this thing.

"Do I park at the Orlando Stadium entrance? I park there. They parked in my home in front and I still gave them respect, and we came from outside. Really guys, let's be honest. It's Loftus stadium and not Orlando Stadium.

"I didn't see it to be honest. I heard about the commotion. When they park at my space, I said in my home you can't sit where you want. I was unhappy. What I did, I humbled myself, parked outside and walked inside the stadium and let them enjoy parking in front of my house, in my door.

"But I don't blame them, I blame our security. Can you go to Old Trafford and you park there? Are you serious? It's unacceptable. Then it's Sundowns causing problems. No, let's be honest and tell the truth."

He went on to say that the physical altercation brought back memories of the previous 6-0 encounter between the two sides that resulted in fans invading the pitch in violent scenes at the same venue.

"I saw a lot of people coming to me. I saw a lot of black and white coming. So I thought if I run I will be swallowed, so I attacked and pushed back," Mosimane said.

"Last time I saw this was during the 6-0. I had to run for cover. I thought it was the same thing."
