Travellers will not have to wander in search of public toilets in Kozhikode any more. The district administration has joined hands with the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA) to ready toilets in 100 hotels and restaurants in the district for public use. The logo of the project named KLOO will be launched by Labour Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan at Hotel Yash International on Mavoor Road at 4 p.m. on Monday. A mobile application featuring the available toilets will also be launched on the occasion.
KLOO is being implemented completely under the aegis of the KHRA, with no financial backing from the district administration. Officials of the Health Department and experts in housekeeping carried out extensive checks of toilets across the district to grade them.
The 100 toilets were selected based on comfort and safety. The hotels will carry out the follow-up cleaning of the toilets.
The mobile application KLOO was developed by a group of techies from Perambra. It will feature the photograph of the hotels and phone numbers. The application may be downloaded from Google Play Store or Apple Store.
District Collector U.V. Jose said the programme was the first-of-its-kind in the State.
