Karisma Kapoor’s braided hairstyle is perfect for the wedding season

The step-by-step guide you need

In case you missed it, Karisma Kapoor served up some major wedding hair inspiration at a recent event in Kochi. The actor wore a black Sabyasachi sari with tilla work and Sabyasachi jewellery for her outing, and had her makeup and hair done by Kritika Gill. While she went with an illuminated base, a soft, shimmery smoky eye and an understated nude lip for her makeup, her hair was worn in a low fishtail braid to keep her tresses off her face and bring the jewellery into the spotlight. Parted right in the middle, the hairstyle exuded an old world charm that accentuated her ethnic outfit without detracting from it. Here’s how you can recreate it at home.

- Apply a lightweight heat-protective blow-dry creme like Bumble and Bumble Straight Blow Dry on your hair, and then blow-dry it with a round brush to smoothen your mane.
- Create a clean centre part and spritz hair from the roots to the ends with a light hairspray like Tresemme Micro-Mist Hairspray Level 2 to reduce frizz. Then, gather your tresses together into a sleek low ponytail and secure them with an elastic.
- To create a fishtail braid, first divide your ponytail into equally into two sections. Take smaller, even-sized pieces from each side, and twist them over each other until you run out of hair. You can ‘pancake’ the braid to make it look thicker by gently pulling at the sides too.
- For a simple nude makeup look, a light base and heavy mascara will do the trick. For Kapoor’s contour, a palette like the Maybelline Master Contour makes placement easy. A little bit of blush on the cheeks and a light highlight will tie the look together.
- Apply a pinkish nude lipstick like M.A.C Matte Lipstick in Mehr to finish the look.
