‘In the current financial year, 60% have already benefited’

District Collector P.S. Pradyumna on Sunday said the mega loan mela for beneficiaries of various corporations would be held in Tirupati, Madanapalle, Chittoor and Kuppam on Monday, and assets worth ₹98 crore would be distributed to 9,678 of them.

Speaking to reporters here, the Collector said the mela would do away with delays in distribution of subsidies and grounding of schemes as subsidies would be given in the same year as loans.

He said corporations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes would take part in the mela.

The Collector said that for 2018-19, subsidies were already distributed to 60% of the beneficiaries.

Water project

The Collector said that the Handri Neeva water project was being completed in an expedited manner in Chittoor district. He said out of 123 km of works, 118 km were completed for the Kuppam branch canal.

Mr. Pradyumna said the Adavipalle reservoir works would be completed soon and by December 10, the district administration would be ready to channel water into the canal.

The Collector said two over bridges at railway crossings between Tirupati and Chittoor would be completed by March 2019, and works for the third one at Puthalapattu would begin this year.

The national highway expansion works between Bangarupalem and the Karnataka border would be completed by December, and works on the Bangarupalem-Chennai road would be completed up to the Chittoor outskirts by the year end.
