>>wendy davis: wfmz's emma wright is live in west easton borough with more on how they are remembering this veteran's day... years ago, the plaque remembering the men who fought in world war one was placed behind the borough's world war ii memorial.
This year, the borough's mayor says they wanted to give the veterans of both wars the respect they deserve.
>>reporter: for years, a tribute to west easton borough's world war one veterans was hidden in plain site next to the borough hall.
Mayor dan depaul says in 1929, the borough erected the monument.
But after world war ii, the original was replaced with a world war ii memorial and a plaque with the names of the borough's 55 world war i veterans was moved to the back.
>>mayor dan depaul, "being in the borough a very long time, i knew the plaque was back there but it kind of gets lost in the meaning of it.
You walk by it, you see it, sometimes you don't."
>>reporter: mayor depaul says earlier this year, he and members of the borough council decided to give the world war i memorial the respect and facelift it deserved.
They removed it from the back of the world war ii monument and placed it on its own stone podium.
>>mayor dan depaul "most places you go in the us, you'll see a lot of ww2 monuments, and the ww1 are usually lost in the background somewhere, i think in most cases that's probably true.
We thought the right place for the ww1 monument&would be in front of ww2, so they are both visible."
>>reporter: the world war i memorial was rededicated on memorial day.
Mayor depaul says this veteran's day, he's happy people can drive by and remember the veteran's of both world war's who came from their community.
Mayor depaul says west easton borough has applied for a grant to redo the whole area around the two memorials.
He says they hope to turn it into a veteran's park.
