Sarvkhap to discuss ways to curb rapes

ROHTAK: Everything is in place for Sunday’s Sarvjatiye Sarvkhap Mahapanchayat in Charkhi Dadri, for which khap leaders from different states are gathering here. They will discuss ways of curbing rapes and crime against women. They will also resolve to tighten the noose around culprits in their respective area of influence.
Mahapanchayat convener Sombir Sangwan told reporters that leaders of 1,143 khaps had been invited for the event in Charkhi-Dadri on Sunday. “Crimes against women and rising incidence of rape of minors, besides young and aged women are a cause of serious concern for all khap panchayats. The respective khaps held meetings at the local level and agreed to hold a national- level convention,” he said.

According to Sangwan, a 10-point agenda will be discussed in the mahapanchayat with leaders of different states. A team of 70 confectioners have been tasked to prepare food for the gathering.
