Man shot dead by police at Queensland hospital

Police have shot and killed a man in a south-east Queensland hospital.

The man was under police guard at Ipswich Hospital on Saturday when he became violent towards an officer about 9pm, police said.

The man was treated by medical staff but died. The officer was treated for facial injuries.

Queensland Police's Ethical Standards Command is investigating with the assistance of the Crime and Corruption Commission.
