With pagdis and bhangra, Gurgaon says ‘save Aravalli Park’

On Sunday morning, runners from Gurgaon and Delhi assembled at the Aravalli Biodiversity Park to add a bit of Punjabi tadka to running, as a part of the Punjabi By Heart Run, organised in the run-up to the Super Sikh Run, by Gurgaon-based fitness group Fitness Ki Paathshala. There were runners in pagdis and there was a touch of bhangra in the zumba that happened at the finish line, as over a hundred runners from NCR ran across the woods inside the Park in two runs – 7km and 14km. The run was also used as a tool to raise awareness about saving the park, which is currently facing threat of destruction due to a proposed Expressway through it. The organisers of the Super Sikh Run (SSR) also collected old shoes, woollies, running gear in good condition for the SSR Sewa Box, as part of their annual collection drive.
