M. Senthilkumar (38) from Velliangadu was arrested on charges of attempting to murder his father over a property dispute. He stabbed his father K. Murugesan (60) on chest chest on Friday morning when Senthilkumar and Murugesan had a dispute over partitioning the 12 acres of land belonged to the latter. Senthilkumar was arrested based on a complaint filed by Murugesan’s brother and remanded in judicial custody.
Jewellery stolen
Unidentified persons broke open the house of Nataraj, a mechanic of Saraswathi Nagar near Kovaipudur and decamped with 30 sovereign of jewellery.
The police said that the burglary took place when Nataraj had gone to a temple with family members. They had left home at 5.30 p.m. and found the front door of the house opened when they returned at 8 p.m. The Kuniyamuthur police have registered a case.
Youth killed in accident
M. Guruprasad(23) of Periyar Nagar at Uppilipalayam died after the two-wheeler he rode collided with a mini lorry near Kovilpalayam late on Friday. The accident took place when the youth was heading from Annur to Coimbatore.
Held for stoning policemen
Ten persons hailing from Assam were arrested by the Veerapandi police in Tirupur allegedly after they pelted stones at policemen. According to the police, a recent love marriage of two Assam natives working in a textile company at Nochipalayam had led to the incident. According to the police, the brother of the bride, who did not like the affair, roughed up with the groom along with his nine friends. The men allegedly pelted stones at the police who reached the spot to handle the situation.
