One caught for abducting and raping five-year-old girl
TNN | Nov 12, 2018, 04:00 ISTSurat: Raja Singh, 22, was arrested by police for abducting and allegedly raping a five-year-old girl in Sachin GIDC area of the city on Saturday. The accused was produced before a local court on Sunday. Police were likely to request for his police custody, sources said.
The girl’s father had registered a complaint against the accused at Sachin GIDC police station. The accused had lured the girl by promising to give her Rs10 and chocolates. He took her to nearby bushes and raped her. Some people found her near Rameshwar Society on Gabheni Road along with the accused. The girl told the people what he had done with her and they informed police.
A police officer said, “We added section of rape after first booking him for abducting the girl. He has also been booked under Pocso Act. The accused has admitted to having lured the girl with chocolates and raping her in the bushes. There were no injury marks on the girl’s body. We have already recorded statements of a number of witnesses in the case.”
The girl and the accused underwent medical examinations at New Civil Hospital. Their medical reports are expected on Monday.
The girl’s family is from Madhya Pradesh. Her father is a casual labourer. The accused, a native of Bihar, is also a labourer, police said.
