Mumbai: Train molester gets it from 22-year-old on Bhai Dooj

THANE: A 22-year-old woman from Kalwa single-handedly took on a man who allegedly molested her at Thane station on Friday when Bhai Dooj was celebrated. All along, fellow passengers either remained mute spectators or were busy filming the act as the woman took on the alleged molester.
The accused, M A Yadav (25) is from Uttar Pradesh and lives in Badlapur with his family. He was booked under section 354 of the IPC by the railway police.
The incident occurred around 8pm at platform 6 at Thane station when the woman was trying to board the ladies coach of a fast train. The woman was to board a train for Kurla where she was planning to celebrate Bhai Dooj with her brothers.
According to the woman's statement to the police, the accused was waiting at the platform and when she tried to board the coach, he allegedly tried to touch her inappropriately. Stunned by this act, the woman froze initially but eventually decided to not let him get away. She confronted the man was stunned as he hadn't expected the woman to retaliate. Within minutes, fellow passengers gathered around.
Disgusted by the incident, the woman started hitting the accused after which he was taken to the police chowky outside the station. A fellow passenger, who was present at the station and filmed the incident, said the woman was seen thrashing the man even as the police were trying to take him to the police station.
A few passengers then came ahead and handed over the accused to Thane city police who later transferred the case to the railway police.
Meanwhile, the woman excused herself as joined her family for the celebration and approached the railway police on Saturday to register her complaint. The railway court sent the accused to police custody.
