Brisbane goalkeeper Jamie Young says he's 'baffled' at being racially taunted during an A-League game.
Young, who plays for the Brisbane Roar, was called a 'monkey' by an elderly fan during Saturday's A-League fixture against Western Sydney in Mudgee.
'We had a free kick at the time and someone behind the goal ... made a racist remark,' Young said on Sunday.

A Western Sydney Wanderers fan was removed from Glen Willow Sports Stadium, Mudgee, on Saturday for allegedly calling Brisbane Roar goalkeeper Jamie Young (pictured) a 'monkey'
'I was just surpised, the stadium wasn't very loud at the time, it was just before a play of the game ... everyone could hear, it was baffling to me.
'You cop criticism as a player in general, fans try and put you off your game, that is part of the culture of the sport. But certainly not the remarks I received.'
Western Sydney want to ban the spectator, who Young said was a male aged '50 to 60 to my eye'.
'I was pretty displeased with the taste of the remarks,' Young said.
'In society these days we have moved on from that sort of thing but unfortunately this happened.
'It personally didn't hurt me so much. I just thought it was poor form. A person his age and stature should know better.
'There's a lot of young kids around there and families at the game, you have got to understand that.'
Young, a stalwart of the Roar since 2014, said he had previously encountered racism in his 15-year career.
'I have experienced that enough in my career ... racism is a very touchy subject for a lot of people,' he said.

Fox's pitch-side microphone recorded Young respond to the attack, screaming: 'don't f***ing call me a monkey, you f***ing racist c***'
'Certain people have lost their lives through racism ... it's a very touchy subject.'
Young accepted the Wanderers' apology after the incident at Glen Willow Sports Stadium, where Western Sydney and Brisbane drew 2-2 on Saturday.
'This incident is not a reflection of their supporters or the club, that is important to acknowledge,' the 33-year-old Young said.
'It's just something that somebody said.'
The Wanderers said the spectator's behaviour was 'deplorable'.
'This individual is not to be welcomed back to any Wanderers fixture,' the club said in a statement.
Football Federation Australia is investigating the incident.

On Sunday morning, Western Sydney Wanderers released a statement condemning the actions of their fan.
The team extended sincere apologies to Young - who is of Sri Lankan and Scottish heritage - for being subjected to the behaviour.

'We applaud and are extremely proud of those Wanderers supporters in the immediate vicinity to this individual who promptly, and vociferously, objected to the behaviour demonstrated and alerted authorities to have the offender removed from the venue,' the statement said.
Brisbane Roar said their club has a zero-tolerance policy regarding racism in their own statement.
'Racism has no place in our society and we do not condone this type of behaviour,' Roar said.
'Brisbane Roar applauds, and thanks, the Western Sydney Wanderers management, staff, security and fans for their swift action and support.

'Brisbane Roar's number one priority is supporting Jamie Young.'
Roar said they would be willing to cooperate with Football Federation Australia (FFA) to investigate the matter further but they would not provide any additional comments at this time.
Former Socceroos stars Archie Thompson and Mark Bosnich said the spectator should be handed a lengthy ban.
'There's no room for that in life full stop. He should be banned for ten years,' Bosnich said on Fox Sports.
But Thompson argued that ten years wouldn't be long enough.
'I think not ten years, life. We can't tolerate that sort of stuff,' he responded.
Roar coach and former Socceroo John Aloisi mirrored the same comments and commended Young's determined nature.
'Jamie was upset and rightly so, but he bounced back and I'm very proud of him,' he said.
