Her team successfully blocked Kylie Jenner from trademarking the name 'Kylie' in February last year.

And in an exclusive interview with Lisa Wilkinson, set to air on Sunday's The Project, Kylie Minogue revealed the surprising reason she was upset over the legal drama.

The 50-year-old singer was disappointed to hear that her lawyers referred to the cosmetics founder as a 'secondary reality TV personality'.

Lisa, 58, asked Australia's pop queen her thoughts on Kylie being referred to as a 'secondary reality TV personality' who only appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians as a 'supporting character'.

'I was so upset when I heard that. I said, 'Who said what?',' Kylie responded.

'What I heard back was, 'That's lawyer speak',' she added.

Kylie went on to reveal what she first thought, upon hearing the youngest Jenner wanted to trademark the name Kylie.

'I just thought, 'Here we go. This is a bother',' she said. 'I didn't want there to be any trouble about it, but we did have to handle it so everything was taken care of very nicely I have to say.'

In response, the Australian singer's legal representatives sent the US Patent and Trademark Office a long list of reasons why the trademark should not be granted.

Describing Jenner as 'a secondary reality television personality', the letter argued that, in contrast, Minogue was an 'internationally-renowned performing artist, humanitarian and breast cancer activist known worldwide simply as 'Kylie''.

In February last year, the Patent Office rejected Jenner's application.
