MANGALURU: Surfing Swami Foundation organised a massive beach clean-up for the second time this year post-monsoon on the pristine beaches of Hejamady and Mulki.
Around 300 volunteers including students from colleges and other organisations participated in the drive.
The volunteers assembled at Mantra Surf Club around 7am and were ferried across the river on boats to the beaches where they were briefed about the collection and segregation of waste materials.
The waste was carefully segregated into plastics, glass bottles, rubber and bio-degradable items which were later transported in plastic bags to a waste treatment plant.
