'Sisto, il mio cuore si spezza... I’ve been going to Pellegrini’s since 1987,' the Boy Erased actor shared on Twitter, including a photo of himself and fellow actor Nick Giannopoulos alongside the beloved cafe owner.
The Italian words, 'il mio cuore si spezza' translate to 'my heart breaks'.
The actor went on: 'Never been to Melbourne without dropping in on my man Sisto. South Sydney stickers on the wall and caps on display. My sweet loyal friend, stabbed in the street by a mad man. Cosí triste [so sad].'
Nick Giannopoulos, 55, replied to Russell's post leaving a heartfelt tribute of his own.

'Thank you for everything you gave to Melbourne. You were loved by all and will be missed.'
Mr Malaspina appeared to have left a mark on the Melbourne community, with another person responding to Russell's tweet, saying he remembered seeing the actor with the local businessman.

Mr Malaspina was murdered by Hassan Khalif Shire Ali, 30, as he ran to help with what he thought was a car crash victim just blocks from his coffee shop at about 4.20pm on Friday.
However, Khalif had deliberately crashed his Holden Rodeo that was loaded with gas canisters and set the car alight after mounting the pavement near the Swanson Street intersection.
