Young boy fishing with friends dies after creek bed collapses

A young boy fishing with friends in a creek bed has died after the ground beneath him collapsed, in Molong in NSW's central west on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to a property on Mitchell Highway in Molong, about 35 kilometres north-east of Orange, just after 2pm on Saturday.

Three boys had been fishing on a creek bed on the property when it collapsed, police said.

One of the boys, aged 11, was critically injured.
