Bihar: Five youths killed in road accident in Munger district

PATNA: At least five youths were killed, while one had a miraculous escape when two bikes in which they were travelling in opposite direction, collided head on near Majma Pul on SH-22 at Chandpura village here under Samgrampur police station area in Munger district on Friday night.
Sangrampur police station SHO LV Singh said that the deceased were identified as Amit Kumar (19), Nilesh Kumar (19), Rohit Kumar (18), Ankit Kumar (18) and Vishal Kumar (17). All of them were natives of different localities around Chandpura.
“Only one Abhishek Kumar (18) miraculously survived the ghastly accident with some minor bruises and cuts,” the SHO said.
He said that Amit, Nilesh and Rohit were on one bike and were travelling towards Tarapur while the rest three were coming towards Tarapur when the accident took place.
One of the bike was driven by Rohit while the other one was driven by Vishal.
“The bikes were at such a high speed that their frontal part has got mangled beyond recognition in the accident. Amit, Nilesh and Rohit had died on spot while rest two died during treatment,” he said adding none were even wearing a helmet.
He said that all of them were initially rushed to primary health centre at Sangrampur where doctors declared three of them as ‘brought dead’.
“Ankit was referred to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLNMCH) at Bhagalpur but he also died on the way. Vishal’s family member rushed to a nearby private hospital but he also failed to survive due to severe injuries,” SHO Singh said.
He said all five bodies were handed over to respective family members after conducting post mortem at district sadar hospital.
