NEW DELHI: As many as five people were injured after two families at east Delhi’s MS Park clashed over the loud noise made by a motorcycle. A CCTV footage of the incident went viral on Saturday.
Police registered cross FIRs on November 1, a day after the incident. DCP (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav said that two cases have been registered based on the complaints by Ashwini Sharma and Mohit Sharma. The brawl allegedly happened in front of cops. Senior officers said that they are looking into any lapse of action and would initiate appropriate action accordingly.
A preliminary probe revealed that the incident happened at Ram Nagar colony in MS Park. Officers said that the argument started when Ashwini, an advocate, raised objection to Mohit’s motorcycle, which allegedly produces loud disturbing noise.
Ashwini told cops that on the evening of October 31, Mohit was passing Ashwini’s house on his motorcycle. Ashwini came out of his house and asked Mohit to abstain from using his motorcycle in the locality following which an argument started. Family members too joined in the arguments, which soon snowballed into a brawl. Cops said that both sides pelted stones at each other and then damaged vehicles by hitting them with rods.
In the CCTV footage of the incident, a group of men are seen damaging motorcycles and assaulting each other. The cops are also standing at the spot, but local residents alleged that they didn’t intervene.
In his complaint, Ashwini said that following the argument, Mohit called in goons from Loni who attacked him and his family members. The same allegations have been levelled by Mohit’s brother Rohit against Ashwini and his family members.
Senior police officers said that they are yet to make any arrest in the case and are investigating the allegations made by both the groups.
