VARANASI: Ahead of PM Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Varanasi, chief minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of the preparations and appealed to the people not to remove Diwali decorations and lighting from their houses to celebrate the festival again on November 12 when Modi will gift projects of over Rs 2,300 crore to the district.

Immediately after reaching Varanasi on Friday evening, Yogi reached Inland Waterways Authority of India's multi-modal terminal at Ramnagar, where he inspected the completed work after receiving a guard of honour. Later, he reached the circuit house, where before reviewing progress of development work and ongoing preparations for PM visit, he also held a closed-door meeting with local public representatives and BJP office-bearers.

Yogi said that as the PM is coming to give Diwali and Chhath gift to the people, they should also propose thanks to him by celebrating another Diwali on November 12. He also appealed to the people not to remove Diwali decorations and lighting from their houses till November 12.
