Former Congress MP and industrialist Lagadapati Rajagopal, according to police, created a scene at the residence of his friend Mr. GP Reddy, in Banjara Hills late on Thursday night, by obstructing police from arresting the latter.
Mr. GP Reddy has been accused of forging land documents involving prime property belonging to Women Cooperative Society on Road No. 12 of Banjara Hills. The case was registered in 2016 after a complaint was lodged by Kalpana, a member of the cooperative society. Kalpana identified Mr. G.P. Reddy and 10 others as accused in the case, Mr. R Govind Reddy, inspector of Banjara Hills said.
Incidentally a close relative of Inspector General of Police (North Zone) Y. Nagi Reddy was one of the members in the society and Rajagopal alleged that the former was behind the arrest.
Mr. Rajagopal said police entered Mr. GP Reddy’s house without arrest or search warrant on Thursday. “Mr. Nagi Reddy’s family members are the members in the disputed land parcel which makes him very keen about the case,” he told The Hindu, adding that he would meet Telangana and AP Governor ESL Narasimhan and explain him about the case.
Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Nagi Reddy said the police had gone to GP Reddy’s house as part of the ongoing probe and his anticipatory bail had been cancelled. “The action taken by police as per the law can not be attributed to me,” Mr. Nagi Reddy said.
